Religion, Politics and LGBT Rights in Argentina

Nicole Greenfield is a freelance journalist based in New York City. In addition to her work on Argentina, she is currently reporting a series of stories on sex and sexuality in “hip” urban evangelical communities across the United States.

Project Overview:

In 2010, Argentina became the first Latin American nation to legalize same-sex marriage. In 2013, Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Buenos Aires, who had been a staunch opponent of a marriage equality, was elected to the papacy and became Pope Francis I. Nicole Greenfield looks at the complex relationship among religion, politics, and LGBT rights in Argentina.
